Welcome to JRC1 Foodies
Our Mission
We believe great neighborhoods are built around connection — and there’s no better way to connect than through food. Throughout the year, we host scheduled food gatherings like our JRC Royal BBQ Competition in the Spring, and our Fall Festival where everyone participates in the recipe exchanges that bring neighbors together in a fun and welcoming way.
Whether you love to cook, bake, grill, BBQ or smoke, or simply enjoy trying something new, these events are designed for everyone. It’s a chance to share favorite family recipes, discover new flavors, swap cooking tips, and celebrate the diverse tastes that make our community unique.
From seasonal celebrations to casual backyard-style gatherings, our goal is simple: create a vibrant, culinary community where neighbors become friends — one dish at a time.
Upcoming Events - the 2nd Annual JRC Royal BBQ Competition!
What?
We’re doing it again!! The Second Annual JRC Royal BBQ Competition!
When and Where?
Our second neighborhood competition will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at the JRC Pavilion.
Who?
Anyone who currently resides in JRC1 can throw their name in the hat to be a competitor, regardless of skill level. If you like backup, you can enter as a 2 or 3 person team as well.
Just email Belinda at belinda@peoplepeopleus.com by March 6, 2026 with your name, home address, and the names of your team members and their home addresses. If you’d like to volunteer to be a judge, please email Belinda at the above address by the same date.
If you don’t want to be a competitor but would like to sample all the good BBQ our grillers and smokers have created, bring a side to share (with serving utensils) and we can make a meal of it! We’ll provide paper plates and napkins, and beverage coolers, you bring a side to share and whatever you’d like to drink. Please email Belinda by March 6, 2026 if you plan to be there so we can plan for paper plates and such!
General Guidelines
• Cooking Time: All cooking to be done at your residence and transported in a warming tray or chafing dish and serving utensils to the pavilion by 4:30 p.m. for judging with sharing with your neighbors starting by 5:30 p.m.
• Grill Types: You can use any type of grill or and smoker (charcoal, gas, electric, pellet or wood-fired).
• Meat Prep: You do you! Marinades, sauces, whatever your specialty is!
• Health Standards: But you must practice proper food safety (washed hands and/or gloves, clean tools, and storage) because, well, we can’t have our neighbors getting sick.
• Temperature Checks: Please make sure all meats reach safe internal cooking temperatures.
Judging Rules
• Blind Judging: Entries will be labeled with numbers to ensure anonymity. If you’d like to volunteer to judge, email Belinda by March 6, 2026.
Event Etiquette
• Time Management: All dishes must be turned in by the designated deadline of 4:30 p.m. to be judged.
• RSVP’s: Truly appreciated so we know how many folks to expect.
• Clean Up: Competitors and those bringing sides are responsible for cleaning up their food and items at the end of the event.
Prizes
• Bragging Rights: The winner(s) gets crowned the "JRC Royal BBQ Champion" for 2026!
